Steelers go to Madrid

Despite having lost the last game of the Euroleague in Vienna last weekend, the SSB Steelers Superleague Team has qualified for the Willi Brinkmann Cup at the end of April in Madrid/ Spain. Additionally to the second place in the tournament, Steelers secured the Fair Play trophy and point guard Colin Price won the MVP.

The team played the Pilatus Dragons from Switzerland in their final game on Sunday, a team which was equally dynamic as Steelers. They managed a quick head start with 10-0 before Steelers caught up with sharp play and shooting of Calum Gordon. Unfortunately due to injury, Colin Price was unable to play, and this left a slight gap in the usual power start of Steelers. However, it was another possibility to give every player court time and the game was finished impressively by 1st Division players Caudwell, Thompson, Scholefield and Brown, along the power house Darren Greenfield. The youngsters showed spirit and skill and give hope for the future of Steelers.

Altogether it was a great trip for Steelers and everybody is looking forward to the final showdown in Madrid in a few weeks.
